Fire In The Rain at The Columbia City Night Market
Columbia City Night Market: Where Community, Culture, and Creativity Meet
The Peace Peloton’s Columbia City Night Market is more than just a monthly event—it’s a thriving community celebration in the heart of one of Seattle’s most diverse neighborhoods. Held on 37th Avenue South between South Ferdinand and South Edmunds Streets, the market has been bringing together neighbors, visitors, artists, and entrepreneurs for years. Its mission is to support local small businesses—particularly Black-owned enterprises—while creating a vibrant space where people can connect, explore, and celebrate.
Over the years, the Night Market has hosted an eclectic mix of entertainment: from live music and spoken word performances to roaming dancers, street artists, and cultural showcases. Visitors can enjoy incredible food from local vendors, shop for unique handmade goods, and soak up the lively atmosphere that feels part block party, part cultural festival.

Three Years of Fire and Storytelling
For over three years, I’ve had the privilege of bringing Lion Gypzi Fire Experience (LGFX) to the Columbia City Night Market, creating fire variety shows that blend heat, movement, and storytelling. What started as a single booking has turned into an ongoing tradition—and one of my favorite stages to perform on. Each time, I work with a talented cast of fire dancers, musicans, and other performing artists to deliver something new for the crowd. We’ve told epic tales with flame, brought laughter through interactive games, and given the audience a chance to feel like part of the show. The Night Market has become a place where I can push creativity and keep the community engaged,

A Special Show, Rain or Shine
This Saturday, we’ll be back at it again from 9 PM to 10 PM—no matter what the weather throws at us. With rain in the forecast, our flames will burn even brighter. This time, we’re putting together a circus variety show that’s going to bring the crowd right into the action. We’re talking interactive games, all-age solo and duet performances, live vocals, and a whole lot of fire. Rain or shine, I promise we’re going to heat up the stage and make it a night you won’t forget.

Beyond food, the market featured an eclectic mix of arts and crafts vendors, showcasing handmade jewelry, artwork, and textiles. The air was filled with the sounds of live music, adding to the lively ambiance and making it a truly immersive experience.
Doc Wilson: The Man Behind the Market
I’ve got to give a huge shoutout to Doc Wilson, the heart and mind behind the Columbia City Night Market. He’s the one making sure these events run smoothly, curating a lineup that keeps the energy high month after month. Beyond the Night Market, Doc has also given me and many other performers opportunities to showcase our talents at his other events like the Summit 2 Sound and. Fundraisers. His dedication to creating platforms for artists and entrepreneurs has helped build a stronger, more connected creative community here in Seattle.
