This year’s Faire runs across three weekends in August, each themed to invite new tales and characters to roam the grounds. Guests are encouraged to don their finest Renaissance garb, from jousting tournaments and artisan crafts to mead tastings and whimsical street performances, the Faire offers an adventure for all ages.</p><p>One of this season’s most talked-about spectacles was the fire show, hosted by <a data-mce-href="https://www.thefractalphase.com/" href="https://www.thefractalphase.com/">The Fractal Phase</a> put on. The Lion Gypzi Fire Experience had the opportunity to collaborate with them on a night bathed in the glow of the full moon—and amplified by the cosmic energy of the Lion’s Gate Portal—2,000 eager souls gathered before the grand stage. With music humming from a portable speaker, we ran through dance counts, prop order progression, and fight sequences with my partner <a data-mce-href="https://www.instagram.com/yoniflowerbomb?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&amp;igsh=MW9yMmMyam51cWU5dA==" href="https://www.instagram.com/yoniflowerbomb?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&amp;igsh=MW9yMmMyam51cWU5dA==">@yoniflowerbomb</a>, fine-tuning every step as if the parking lot grass itself were the grand stage. </p><p>My nerves simmered beneath the excitement; I had just crafted a pair of fire katanas designed to ignite the moment they were drawn from their sheaths. It was a risky debut, but when the time came and the blades roared to life without a hitch, the crowd’s eruption made every tense moment worth it. Flames curled in the air during fire eating and breathing displays, drawing gasps from the crowd. It was my first time attempting it; I missed his alley-oop fireball on the first try, but nailed it perfectly on the second. Each success felt like leveling up in my own pyromancy, and by the end of the night, the arena was buzzing with compliments and gratitude. Mythical beings whirled in dance circles while mugs of mead and cider clinked in celebration.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: inherit; font-weight: inherit;" data-mce-style="font-family: inherit; font-weight: inherit;"> Everywhere you looked, there were fae queens, mischievous jesters, shadowy warlocks, and even plague doctors from the mid-century mingling in the torchlight. We eventually gathered around a great campfire with fellow performers, swapping stories and reflecting on the night’s magic.
